BIOGRAPHY
Josh Ramsay is a Grammy-nominated, JUNO Award-winning Canadian composer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He specializes in writing music for film, television and pop radio. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, he owns his own recording studio, where he composes original scores and produces recordings.
Ramsay is the lead vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and frontman of the multi-platinum-selling band Marianas Trench. Signed in 2006 by 604 Records, the group has released multiple studio albums and achieved commercial success in Canada and internationally. As a songwriter and producer, Ramsay co-wrote and produced Carly Rae Jepsen’s international hit “Call Me Maybe,” which received a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. The song also earned him a SOCAN Award for Most Performed Song in SOCAN history.
His additional songwriting, production, and performance credits include work with artists such as Nickelback, Danny Fernandes, and 5 Seconds of Summer.Ramsay has contributed music to film, including the original song “We Should Be Friends,” written for the motion picture Adventures in Public School. In 2022, he released his debut solo album, The Josh Ramsay Show, which he wrote, produced, and performed most of the instruments on.

On top of Marianas Trench, Josh has also collaborated with artists like Nickelback, 5 Seconds of Summer, Serena Ryder and most notably, co-wrote and produced Carly Rae Jepsen’s global smash hit Call Me Maybe, earning him a Grammy nomination and producer credit for the most performed song in SOCAN history.
His latest endeavors include his solo album The Josh Ramsay Show and most recently Marianas Trench’s Haven, a cinematic rock masterpiece inspired by Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey. His work blends orchestral grandeur with pop perfection, proving his range as a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer.
